I’ve been using my Suimu 5m rod for some big fish in mainstreams and rivers. Basically it’s an upscaled tenkara rod. I use clear level lines and the rod is very tactile, I use it to feel eats, I keep the line tight for a lot of the active techniques and for the dynamic, tight.
Idaho was a great testing ground as the long rod was able to keep my back cast above high streamside vegetation. Able to reach and accurately cast.
Also, I’ve dived more into Discover Tenkara’s stuff more and it’s spot on from what I’ve been saying and learned on my own. These guys cut to the chase. I could have saved a lot of time and money with their info.
Anyway, my honryu season starts soon!
I’ll be putting a lot of time in doing it.
Super stoked to put a huge bend in this big rod.
